I specialize in refining business documents and sales and marketing content to make sure your communication reaches and resonates with your audience.

Who it’s for

Maybe you need technical support in making your content digitally accessible for folks who use assistive technologies, disabled people, and neurodivergent folks.

Maybe you’re creating a piece of content and need an extra set of eyes before it goes to design for layout and publishing.

Maybe you’re looking for a values-aligned editor for a regular, ongoing relationship.

With our work, maybe you want to:

  • Challenge systemic and structural barriers to inclusion.

  • Generate social inclusion.

  • Embrace intersectionality.

  • Make a positive contribution to your community.

As a content reviewer, Leanna takes the time to dig into, digest, and dissect the writing in front of her. She then takes different vantage points in order to generate thoughtful and thorough feedback that reflects the multiple perspectives that inform her practice.

My editorial skills

I specialize in editing for accessibility. My editorial skills are:

Plain language communications

I give recommendations to enhance your document’s accessibility, usability, and understanding for its intended audience using plain language communication best practices.

Digital accessibility

Using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2, I give recommendations to improve the digital user experience for your audience.

Conscious language and authenticity reading

I share feedback on writing and representation that may unintentionally harm, stereotype, or exclude. I evaluate the authenticity of representation based on my own thoughts and lived experience. I read for these topics:

  • Neurodivergence and neurodiversity

  • Lived experience of disability

  • Mental health and complex trauma

  • Chronic illness and medical advocacy

  • Financial instability

What you’ll get

Here’s what you’ll get:

  • Feedback on your document using the Comments feature in Word, with explanations and suggestions.

  • A light copyedit with Tracked Changes that addresses typos, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style consistency.

  • A comprehensive report summarizing overall impressions and accessibility features.

  • A style sheet that records the document’s formatting, spellings, and preferences.

  • Links to articles and resources that explain feedback and help you learn more if you want.

I make sure to carefully consider your needs with those of your audience without judgment. My goal is to communicate clearly and tactfully to find a balanced approach to meet the needs of everyone involved.

Price and project workflow

Each document evaluation is unique and needs to be assessed differently.

Because each project’s needs are different, you’ll get a customized proposal tailored to your document. This proposal will outline the time and cost, which will be a fixed project fee so you know exactly what to expect.

If you want to understand the steps from first contact to project completion, you can read about our process for more information.
